Blog Poll: Your opinion and feedback
We started this blog four months ago on a trial basis to see how it would develop and we have been enjoying it so far. At the same time, we are grateful to you, our dear readers for visiting our blog, and would like to solicit your opinion and feedback on the blog. Some of the things we would like to find out would be:
What do you like / dislike about our blog?
Are the write-ups interesting, helpful or too technical?
What ways can this blog be improved?

Well, am new to this blog, but have to say I love it, from the design to the intent, to the way it keeps my poetic soul going in the knowledge that the appreciation of poetry is not a dead art. Please, please, please do not ever give up on this blog, even if the number of visitors dwindle to 1, namely lil ole me:)
Hmmmmm, perhaps you could also sneak in links to the blog onto other sites. kakiseni or silverfish perhaps (apologies if you already have links there which I've missed out) that would get more people into the whole thing.
Thanks for the enjoyable 'useful links' bit too.
Another suggestion, maybe a space for visitors to post their own/excerpts of their own poetry, for others to critique, etc. I understand tho that writers are generally protective of their work, so they mayn't want it e-published what with all the intellectual property thefts, etc that are possible.
Let's see...can't think of much else. perhaps a 'Poet monthly' for people to submit articles, essays, interviews or just snippets of poetry on. Then we'd learn of the poets behind the poems which perhaps makes the poems more interesting... or dilutes their effect...who knows!

Whitearrow, ah, I now see that you are Malaysian (kakiseni and silverfish). :) Great to have you visiting us and commenting with such passion and intelligence.
Publishing Malaysian poetry? Wow, you read our minds here. We certainly hope to do it, and actually mooted the idea before we started this blog, but we are being cautious as to how this blog develops first. It is our desire that this blog would help foster a community of poetry lovers, and subsequently a Malaysian poetry writing group. Unfortunately, most of the poetry written by Malaysians so far, with the exception of people like Wong Phui Nam, Cecil rajendra, Jerome Kugan, Bernice Chauly and our very own Sharanya, have been a bit staid and trite (though not lacking in talent). One of the things we are trying to do now, is to get young Malaysians to read poetry first before beginning to write.
As to essays and articles, we were afarid that it would get too 'intellectual'. In fact, a few of us have decided to tone down in fear that we put off some people. Well, since you are in favour, I'll tell Leon to keep up all his in depth analysis in his write-ups.
We will take things as they come, slowly. Thanks again.

fadzlynn, hi, thanks for dropping by, though it's rather unsual for you to ask for comments for a poem here.
Mmmm...only two lines for this poem? Yes, there are short two-lines poem, but something seems missing. The image isn't reall fresh either, because I think I am come across something similar before, and here nothing further is 'created'.
Hehe, yeah Dreamer Idiot, I am Malaysian. Have to say that I am also a citizen of the world (wow, sounds so 'powderful') as unlikely as that might be in our current globalised yet terror-filled era. Thanks for the kind words on my comments thus far. Will definitely continue to visit and put in my 2 cents worth (or many, many cents even). May I note, btw, that your comments on 'ars poetica' were, to my mind, very much hitting the nail on the head, and I enjoyed them very much. Here's to many poetry-filled days yet!

i love this blog and am learning so much
i want others to love poetry too, especially those who haven't really read it before or felt what it can do
i want to ask whitearrow to be part of the team
and also to encourage spot to join us because although she thinks she doesn't know about poetry, she is so insightful and participates
(and will before long be writing good poetry too, i predict)
whitearrow - we haven't put up our own poetry for discussion and perhaps later a later linked site would be best for this
problem is ... as dreamer idiot says, most poetry written here (as everywhere else, i suppose) is not terribly good. you can take a short story or a novel and say, fix this or that. but a poem either works or doesn't..
and writers when told their work is bad often shrivel up and shrink inside
understanding comes before writing. and then we must work on getting workshops off the ground.
maybe when dreamer idiot next comes over to civilization we can have a
meeting about how things might develop with all puisy-poesy folks there

My own opinion is that the poems featured here seem a bit dated. Personally I would like to see more contemporary poems, eg written sometime in the last 15 years.
And I would hope to discover more obscure-but-good poets here. So far, many of the writers featured (DH Lawrence, Rabindranath Tagore etc) are already so well-known.
But all in all, I love this blog. :)
i love this blog! am not a big reader of poetry, but this blog is showing me some real gems, so thank you :)
i have not commented on the poems before, as i think the other commentors say what i feel so much better than i could, and i enjoy reading the comments almost as much as the post itself.
i DO feel that it sometimes gets too technical - for me, that is - but i think some other reader could enjoy that study, so i see no harm in continuing with it too, so there is a balance between the 'feeling' folk and the 'analytical' folk. :)
Love this blog too. I had an interest in poetry but I must admit that I didn't know where to start! *horrors* (school lit. texts don't count). This is great, with the various poets featured.
I think that the analysis is just fine, it's not too technical, and it's a step up from school lit. guides. (at least, this novice can understand it).
My only lament is that I don't have the time to read all of them! lol=) No fault of yours, anyway... it's actually a good thing!

Hi. I'm a TESL student. I was looking for Cecil Rajendra poetry review to do a poetry recital assignment when I found your blog. It was a great help especially the poems in this blog rarely have reviews.
I need all those 'experts' out there to help me to comment on this poem by Cecil Rajendra. I had spend hours to understand it but still fail to. I am not sure whether it is a love poem or a hate poem. So here it goes.
Malaysia Love Poem
Were all the hills in Malaysia
in one huge mountain piled
Muntahak on Tangga
Chintawasa, Chanah
And Tuhan on top
And all between us
I'd climb them climb them
All!
To reach you
O, how I love you!
Were all the streams in Malaysia
In one great river joined
Kemaman, Kurau
Temengor, Temblin
And the Nenggiri in flood
And all between us
I'd swim them siwm them
